Per Strand was brilliant. Handsome and debonair, he had so many things going for him. As a little girl, I worshipped him. He had an excellent education. He was sent to the best private schools and graduated with honors from the University of Oslo. He joined the Norwegian State Department as a young man. He was later appointed the Norwegian Ambassador to Iceland and spent a year there in the 1960s. However, his wife refused to accompany him to Iceland and it led to him not accepting any further foreign posts.
Per's wife, Esther, was a beautiful woman. She was trained and worked as a barber, but her passion was gymnastics. She represented Norway in gymnastic events all over Europe. Per and Esther had one daughter, Gro Lene (1959?), whose married name is Blix.
Per loved his mother and would spend every Tuesday night having dinner in Mauritz Hansensgate. He liked kids and loved word games, puzzles and riddles.
